About:

ON AIR with WHAV Winn Damon discussing the September 2023 exhibit day of Tomaso's work.

‘For The Love of Markers’, an initiative stands strong on promoting the work Tomaso Schena did in his community and encourages others to follow his passion. After a two day successful art exhibit at the Plaistow Historical Society, it was evident Tomaso’s artwork had touch many hearts and it would be an amazing message to keep his art and stories alive.

I, Samantha Subatch started this journey by setting up local booths in town on a quest for locals to send in pictures of their original Tomaso drawings to create an online archive. Plaistow Historical Society has organized binders by year of every drawing that was sent in on their website (PlaistowHistorical.org). The archive dates begin with few from 2009, to 2013 through May 2023 when he had passed. (Please contact directly to be added to the archive).

Previous booths were also set up as a drawing station for anyone, and everyone to express their artistic capabilities with the prized Crayola markers and show significance to Tomaso’s personalized caricatures. The mission of this initiative is to influence aspired artists to the path of community and connection with their art, just like Tomaso. In remembrance of Tomaso Schena the initiative sets forth marker donation boxes in businesses that are then organized to be dispersed to special events for free.
